Hello my loves,
As you may have noticed the blog has a new name, and I am working on changing the look a little bit. I wanted to take a minute to let you know why I’m making these changes and what I hope to achieve by doing them.
I had been second guessing the name a fit of fancy pretty much since the launch of my blog because every time I told someone the name they responded with something along the lines of “a flight of fancy…?” or “a fit of what…?” I knew that I had made a mistake, but everything I read told me DO NOT CHANGE THE NAME. It seemed like a golden rule. As time went on though, I couldn’t help but feel the name wasn’t an accurate representation of how I wanted the blog to be perceived. I also started to notice that it was inadvertently causing me to limit myself to creating certain types of content and looks. So, I knew it was time to make a change, and who doesn’t like breaking the rules a bit? 🙂
I had first thought of the name The Kathleen Collective a few months after I launched the blog, and I fell in love with it. It comes from my middle name which is Kathleen, and I liked the word collective because of it’s meaning: group of entities that share or are motivated by at least one common issue or interest, or work together to achieve a common objective. I seemed like the perfect name for a blog which is really nothing without its readers. I like to think that you and I are connected by our common interests and goals in life, and I love that that sentiment is now a part of my brand.
One thing I hope this new name reflects is the changes that have happened in my life over the past year. I planned a wedding, got married, started a new job, travelled in Europe and moved to Ireland. I think I have learned, grown and matured quite a bit since launching this blog last April. This name feels like it recognizes these changes. The other thing I hope it reflects is a new level of sophistication and elevation. My vision for this blog is elevated street style, curated collections and chic travel and interior inspiration. It’s not a huge change in direction, but it will be an adjustment that you notice.
I hope you enjoy this shift in direction and like the new name as much as I do.
